BATTERY ELECTRIC VEHICLES COME OF AGE

BEVs are battery electric vehicles that get their power from rechargeable batteries and are powered by an electric motor instead of an internal combustion engine.

Cars that use electric motors and a small combustion engine are called hybrid vehicles.

Pure BEVs that don't burn fuel are called "clean" cars.

BEVs are more energy efficient than all internal combustion vehicles. BEVs produce no exhaust fumes. And some electric cars are capable of faster acceleration than gas powered vehicles.

Ongoing battery technology advancements have brought down the cost of buying an electric car, but the buyer resistance comes from the limited travel distance between battery recharging, charging time, and battery lifespan.

Although several new model electric cars have been showcased as the future for motoring the latest BEVs are still only prototypes.

Many consumer groups have accused the major US automobile manufacturers of sabotaging electric vehicle production.

The electric car conspiracy theory has been backed up by the fact that oil companies have used patent protection to keep modern battery technology from use in BEVs.
