ORBITAL INVENTOR SARICH CASHED UP GREENInventor of the orbital engine Western Australia's Ralph Sarich says he has a war chest of several hundred million dollars to develop alternative energy sources.
The creative entrepreneur has sold up four commercial properties held by his private company and is ready to do something about what he fears is a looming catastrophe from global warming.
"There's a real energy crisis looming for the world," said Sarich as he urged governments and private companies to make an attempt to "do something along the right lines" for world community a service.
The Sarich orbital engine invented in the 1970s was 40 per cent lighter, 60per cent smaller and 35 per cent more efficient than standard car engines. However for reasons unknown the fuel-injection system was only developed for use two-stroke engines mostly for boat engines and lawnmowers.
Sarich believes companies should pursue large-scale geothermal projects which involves passing water over hot, dry rocks up to seven kms below the earth's surface. The heated water can then be used to generate power.
The world renowned investor says that nuclear power is unavoidable in the long term.
While stating that going into nuclear is dangerous Sarich says it's the better of "all evils" that are raising the Earth's temperature.
