CLIMATE CHANGE THE FASHIONABLE COOL

Climate change is hot and here to stay. That's the verdict of the first cool season reviews of New York's trend-setting fashion shows.

Biodegradable fabrics, recycled threads and organic materials have captured the attention of top designers and the main labels.

The talk of New York is that the environment is not a short-term trend. According Aveda spokeswoman Ellen Maguire: "Going green is good business."

Keeping to green fashion themes, designers are avoiding fur for the winter months ahead.

Recycled paper is also in fashion as evidenced by the invitation cards to the city?s latest catwalks.

Consumers are gravitating to companies that care for the environment. The new rule is if it's not green niche then it's not a real.

Green clothes have become the new rage. Macy's high-end department chain Bloomingdale's has organic cotton tops and jeans.

Saks Fifth Avenue is offering a $2,815 Behnaz Sarafpour organic wool coat.

Flowing garments are featuring environmentally friendly thread and hand carved buttons.

Environmentally conscious fashion has become a mega trend and has affect the way the fashion industry is viewing business galvanizing designers to use recycled materials.

The winning formula, however, is to convince the consumer that green look is good or the environment and individual.
